Benadryl is a brand name of diphenhydramine, an antihistamine with a powerful side effect of drowsiness. Benadryl is labeled as an allergy relief medication but the same drug is sold under other brands such as Sominex as a sleep aid. Effects of overdosing on diphenhydramine include seizures, extreme drowsiness, excessive sleepiness, delirium, and hallucinations.
The translucent object packed with several of the pills is a shotgun shell. The text refers to the practice of reloading shotgun shells with other objects in an attempt to alter their lethality and/or pain potential. A shell loaded with rock salt for example, salt is much lighter than lead so it should have less stopping/penetrating power, but any wounds caused are automatically salted.
The idea behind a rock salt shell is it would be less likely to kill and more likely to HURT. Also possibly less likely to damage anything behind. You might take a little paint off the fridge but not destroy it.
Whether that’s actually how it works or not, call Adam and Jamie.
It would make a lot more sense with robotussin but whoever made this doesn’t really understand what’s in today’s OTC drugs, the Benadryl that was fun isn’t pink like these. Diphenhydramine is just a bad drug they need to recall.
If we can get an intruder high on any drugs in this scenario I’d go for datura. It’s not an otc drug, but I think you can legally grow the plant or even get it from a plant store. Most people describe the trip as hell
What Benadryl are you talking about, I’ve never heard of it being anything but diphenhydramine? People definitely abuse this form, it’s a deliriant in high doses and can cause hallucinations. I can’t recall its name but I distinctly remember there being a community about it on the other site.
Edit: perhaps you’re thinking of Sudafed PE, in which the main ingredient, pseudoephedrine, was switched for phenylephrine? The latter drug was recently found to be ineffective like you’re talking about. Though, the reason they made pseudoephedrine prescription only in the first place was because people were using it to make meth, not because it was a fun drug to abuse.
I think you need to be American. It is funny how the Americans are busy explaining the drug to you, but failing to understand that it is the underlying premise that most non-Americans won’t get.
Whenever I get Benedryll (I assume what’s pictured) there’s a lot of carrier material (supposedly for the tummy), but if you get Sudafed by itself (the main ingredient) it’s a tiny little round pill.
Im not saying you’re wrong about the amount of carrier material, but sudafed(pseudoephedrine) and benadryl(diphenhydramine) are two completely different drugs.
Edit: also i don’t think there’s any liquid inside the shell
my first thought was force feeding, but i do hope nobody force feeds nails to home intruders over there, so my second thought was uhhh, some sort of gun that shoots whatever you put in it? but would pills even work if someone uh, shot you with them? i’m pretty sure all pills are designed to need processing by our digestive track
that’s still inserting them into your body in a semi-intended way, curious choice of hole but guess it works. i was thinking more a pill shard making its own hole into your body, that probably won’t give the pill’s intended effect
boofing would work way better than snorting or inhaling most pills i imagine, since your ass is still a part of your digestive track and things still do get absorbed through there
I’m using the other comments to hypothesise but I think they are using Benedryl (an anti-hystemine/anti-allergy medication) and putting it inside a shotgun cartridge. The implication being that they will shoot people breaking into their house with a powerful over-the-counter narcotic.
Others kinda covered it but I am someone who unfortunately has personal experience so I can offer details others can’t. Diphenhydramine, AKA benadryl or DPH, when used in doses higher than recommended, produces deliriant effects similar to substances like datura. At first you feel like gravity had increased on you from all sides. You are sinking and compressing. Your head feels heavy and has an outward pressure. Your mouth is dry. There is a tickling on your arms and legs, its the spiders. Every once and a while shadows move in the shapes of people. You could swear you were just talking to your mother, where did she go? How did I get in the bathroom? Why is it so hard to pee? You are so thirsty. Then you wake up. That was roughly 200mg for me, that’s 8 ish pills. Some people have much stronger hallucinations and often shared ones but this is the gist.
Its an awful experience most people don’t do more than once. People who do are often engaging in a form of self harm. It should not be sold imo, its beneficial effects can be matched by later generation antihistamines without the negative effects. Causes dementia too iirc
Higher than recommended dosage? I’m a tall fat fuck so you’d think my body would need a little more than 1 tab of the OTC version to trip balls off of, but I feel so much more comfortable just living with my allergies than taking a Benadryl and being able to see all the demons crossing into our dimension.
Well they’re also an anticholinergic, which means they block the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is the chief chemical messenger controlling functions of the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s really important in brain and muscle function.
What are the effects of anticholinergics?
Effects can include dry mouth and sore throat, resulting from the impaired secretion by exocrine glands. Another side effect is tachycardia, or a higher than usual heart rate, that occurs when anticholinergics interfere with receptors that typically slow the heart rate. Anticholinergics can also cause urinary retention (i.e., the inability to empty the bladder) and obstipation (i.e., the inability to pass stools or gas) due to decreased smooth muscle motility and tone. Additional anticholinergic effects include blurred vision and light sensitivity. Rarely, anticholinergics can cross the blood brain barrier and enter the central nervous systems, causing mood changes, hallucinations, confusion, or disorientation.
What is anticholinergic toxicity?
Anticholinergic toxicity occurs when anticholinergic agents accumulate in the body and may lead to anticholinergic syndrome, which can cause dry mouth, flushed skin, hyperthermia, and tachycardia. It may also lead to anticholinergic delirium, which is characterized by confusion, hallucinations, and psychomotor symptoms. With lower doses, acute anticholinergic syndrome can resolve on its own after the anticholinergic medication has been stopped and fully excreted. On the other hand, higher doses can be life-threatening, so individuals should be medically reviewed and acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, such as donepezil and rivastigmine, can be prescribed as an antidote.
Fyi. Anticholinergics are a class of drugs which have been linked to dementia when used regularly by those 65 and older. Imbalances in acetylcholine are linked with chronic conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
Oh trust me I’m veeeeeery familiar with anticholinergics and parasympathetic agonists both. I swear we devoted more time to those classes of drugs than we did beta-1 and beta-2 agonists for some reason.
Maybe the lecturer had a huge fear of organophosphate poisoning.
Something important that people aren’t really mentioning is that you can use salt-filled shotgun shells in a home defense situation to reduce collateral damage caused by the shotgun pellets penetrating through walls (idk what the nails are for, I’d assume something similar)
There are a handful of places that you can get hit by a nail fired with the speed of a shotgun that won’t kill you, but there are many, many more places that will.
A nail gun does not have the same amount of explosive power that a shotgun does, and it is typically mechanically limited to driving the nail head flush with the surface of whatever it’s attached to.
Shotguns do not have the precision or the initial driving force of a nail gun but they have a lot more follow-through when they do hit.
A nail coming out of a shot gun isn’t moving like a peklet or slug would. It isn’t going to tear a massive hole in your body and believe it or not you can lose whole chunks of yourself and live.
If you had to choose Between being hit in the stomach by a nail gun at point-blank range, or hit in the stomach by a shotgun loaded with nail shot at point-blank range, which one would you choose?
what do I need to know to understand this?

The salt load has an added benefit of temporarily incorporeating ethereal beings.
I’m a little disappointed in myself that I didn’t think it’d work like that.
The idea behind a rock salt shell is it would be less likely to kill and more likely to HURT. Also possibly less likely to damage anything behind. You might take a little paint off the fridge but not destroy it.

…or Johnny Knoxville
It’s okay…most folks are focused on the shotgun, the salt is definitely secondary in that moment

It’ll still fuck you up in a deeply unpleasant way if you try to have fun with it.
Literally having conversations with people who weren’t there. A hellish night of no sleep while desperately needing it. 0/10 would not recommend.
I mean, are you going to blast a home intruder with your fun drugs?
With MDMA. Then be a shoulder for them to cry on.
I think you need to be American. It is funny how the Americans are busy explaining the drug to you, but failing to understand that it is the underlying premise that most non-Americans won’t get.
Yeah I didn’t get that that was a shotgun shell I thought it was a film canister.
Also every antihistamine I’ve ever seen has been a tiny little round thing, those are huge
They expanded in the liquid. That should help.

All of the Oxy 80’s that have been railed or smoked over the years would like a word.

Or boofed

A lot of Benadryl will produce horrific dreams for many.
If blasted into their face by an explosive charge I imagine it will also leave them with horrific PTSD as well!
More like straight up nightmare hallucinations.

Jesus. And they sell this stuff over the counter???

I’ve taken hard drugs before and had no real issues with them, but half a Benadryl and I get angry, which is very unusual for me.
Benadryl gives my partner and his mother the skin-crawlies. It’s such a bizarre medication.
Histamine receptors, especially 3, are more important than people realize.

Nails hurt but wont kill
Bullshit, they can DEFINITELY kill if they hit the head or heart.
There are a handful of places that you can get hit by a nail fired with the speed of a shotgun that won’t kill you, but there are many, many more places that will.
Are you serious? Go talk to people about nail gun accidents. Most of your body can get shot with a nail.
Force = Mass * Acceleration.

Unlikely to penetrate that far though
They are less lethal.
It’s an allergy medicine that’s also used as a sedative, put into a shotgun shell.
In higher doses it can cause dissasociation, delerium, hallucinations, etc.
There’s an upper limit to how much benadryl you should take in a sitting if you don’t want to breach the stratosphere
