The history
of the CTO at a previous job was filled with dc
and sl
because he was a fucking moron. Yes I’m still bitter that he earned way more money than me who had to fix all his mess.

6nk06@sh.itjust.worksto Programming@programming.dev•If AI is so good at coding - where are the open source contributions?2·7 days agoDon’t forget subscriptions. We were freed by Linux, GCC, and all the open source tools that replaced $1000 proprietary crap. They now have that money again through AI monthly plans.
A lot of people on HackerNews have a $200 monthly subscription to have the privilege to work. It’s crazy.

Ubuntu is 20 years old and it was already a decent alternative to Windows back then. People are idiots and we shouldn’t be sorry for them.
GrapheneOS is weird. It’s advertised as “privacy- and security-focused” but in reality it’s a great OS for everyone, it’s like a pure version of Android without being too tied to Apple or Google. You can use the Play Store if you have an account, or Aurora if you don’t want one, and F-Droid is there for the weird stuff.
And what made me switch, it has fucking Android Auto to listen to the music in my car. It’s a bit tied to Google but it’s a huge bonus for me. And for work applications, the Google account is still available but sandboxed.
Is it like the Moscow Kebab, or the Egyptian Sushi?
You’re from the UK aren’t you?
Banks are still running Cobol programs written by Jesus on punchcards. But it’s not the same use case, Linux is mostly running on servers without a UI.
