The only thing this setting does is hide the information from the user. Google, or a thousand other data brokers (many probably created by Google for this purpose) still retain that data indefinitely.

I feel like Semver should also adopt the date inclusion, like 7.4.2-202606 or even 7.4.202606 — you can even extended it to multiple daily releases like 7.4.20260610.1233
There’s too much software to mentally track when each version was released. You should be able to tell at a glance.

I’d also raise that as an issue with the developer. No self host-able app should enforce https. Only warn/notify. There are numerous situations where http is a perfectly fine, permanent solution (LAN/VPN).

I wouldn’t want to waste energy on something that the Christian Taliban will likely destroy, or benefit from; or go to patented corporate research.

You can also choose a mesh vpn like tailscale and then you don’t have to worry about ddns or port forwarding at all, ace you can still use a reverse proxy.
Doesn’t matter. Anyone would be scared shitless facing down a 10-20ft chicken. It might look stupid but it could kill you easily.
Last I heard it was way more than feasible for a normie. Something like 500TB.
