So, in the best case scenario, the US as we know it is done and, after a hard fall and hitting rock bottom, will emerge as a country that is less of a capitalist hellhole. Ideally, in the process, other countries will find more independence from the USA, be it trade wise or security wise.

The more realistic scenario is that everything will stay the same/similar and just get slightly worse all the time but every other country will still suck up to the USA and everything gets a little worse. Oh yeah and climate change will fuck everyone up the ass.

The worst case scenario, I would argue, is that this ends in the destruction of the world via nuclear war within less than an hour. This is what I am scared of the most.

My experience with Linux - and as I now know, probably GNU? - is limited to not pressing a button while my dad’s computer at work turned on so that I would end up in not in Windows. He had one amazing game on Linux where some troll had to roll stones (I wish I could find it again). I came to work with him every now and then and was allowed to play while he would half desperately half violently try to get rid of the chaos on his desk, which consisted of about 700 pounds of paper and occasional random paper clips.

I loved these days. And the canteen’s gravy with rice for some reason.

That’s the thing, my dad was one of the first informatics people (computer based algebra in Russia and Germany) and my mom did her thesis on how to design a cigar shaped body in 3D on a computer. But they are in their mid to late 60s now and my dad went from being a professor of IT to “how do I open the internet” so my confusion is based on bias from my family. All his former colleagues also didn’t stay up to date with technology and they worked for an elite university in Germany.

Anyway, good that they are alive and kicking! And glad their kicks are not so random as my folks’.

I’m sorry, and I don’t want to be disrespectful or rude, but as a person who has no clue about computers I am very surprised the creator of Linux is still alive. I somehow thought he is super old and probably dead by now or at least not using the internet. I’m so sorry for my ignorance.

I wouldn’t eat soap simply because it’s amphiphilic, which is why, well, it makes good soap. The molecules have a hydrophilic and a lipophilic side and this will much rather soap off and severely damage the lining of your digestive route, potentially and probably also resulting in dangerous foaming.

If you take the most simple soap that’s just like potassium ions and negatively charged fatty acid residues, I’m not 100% sure but I doubt that the fatty acids want to accept a proton because they are rather stable when negatively charged, hence they won’t work well to buffer the stomach acid. And again, by the time that the fatty acid thinks about accepting a proton or not it will most likely be soaping up your cells’ membranes.

We visited friends in Serbia in summer. It took me back to this smoking world I had long forgotten. Inside smoking and non smoking tables in crowded cafes side by side. And the craziest part was the indoor playgrounds for kids with cafes adjacent or part of it where you could also smoke (and buy hard liquor). But you know what, my kid could play for less than 1,5€ an hour on a rainy day, even when I lived in Munich there were like 2 indoor playgrounds in a 50 km radius and they cost a fortune. They had them everywhere for dirt cheap. So, I’ll happily get off my high horse.

The dichotomous measuring is what bugs me the most. Whether it is big 5 or this test, I basically always score between 47-53% in most categories (except neuroticism, I always ace this one). So I basically never get the same result twice, because there’s like one question where I put “somewhat agree” instead of “fully agree” this time and boom I am an introvert and not an extrovert.

But it’s already this “agree, disagree, neutral” questions that are so pointless and dichotomous. “Do you enjoy big parties” - well, now or ever? Is alcohol involved, is it late, do I know the people, do I take my kid, is it far away, what is the mood, is it loud, what do I do the next day, is it fun? Are we talking practical or hypothetical? As a teen and young adult I loved big parties and thrived, I love to hang out in big groups of friends, now I am in a new city where I barely know people and I have a toddler, so by the love of God, at 8 pm I am so tired a party is the last thing I want to do. I was invited to one, actually, with a lot of childless, single artists in their early 30s, the party didn’t even start until 9 pm, like, yeah my mind wants to go, but I have nothing in common with these people and I am so tired after a kindergarten christmas market, can’t be arsed. SO DO I LIKE PARTIES OR NOT
